Nicole and Mike
Corny, formal, or afraid of heights. We are too dope not to be parents. Someone tell us, wheredababiesat?
Who is Mike
Hey everyone, I’m Mike. I was raised in the upstate of South Carolina where most of my family lives, but I have called North Carolina home since 2016.
I’ve spent the last 10 years working with customers in tech. Helping clients feel supported and set up for success is what I love most about what I do.
I’ve always had a soft spot for animals and can’t imagine life without a furry friend nearby. I’m a homebody at heart—there’s nothing better to me than quality time with my friends, family, and the people (and pets) I love most.
Now, I’m excited to be starting a new chapter: I’m hoping to grow my family through adoption. Becoming a father has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and I’m so grateful you’re here getting to know me.
If you’re considering adoption and looking for someone who will love, support, and cherish your child with his whole heart—I’d be honored to connect and share more about myself, my life, and the home I hope to build.
Let’s play 2 truths and a lie!
I can play the guitar.
I once spent two weeks in Japan.
I am 1 out of 16 children in my family.
Which one did you guess was the lie?
The truth is:
I do play the guitar, bass, and drums. I’m a self-taught musician and I love jamming in my office during my downtime.
I spent two weeks in Japan in 2023 with some friends traveling around and staying in hostels. It was amazing to immerse myself in the culture and to spend some time on the other side of the world.
But the lie is:
I’m not 1 of 16 children. I only have one older brother. My dad on the other hand is 1 of 16 and my Mom is 1 of 5! It’s safe to say I have a large family, but I’d love to make it a little bigger.
Who is Nicole
Hey everyone, I’m Nicole. I grew up in South Carolina in a small, close-knit family, and I’ve called North Carolina home for the past several years. Here I attended and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with my MSW and MPH.
I’m a therapist and the owner of a private practice. I created it to be a cozy, creative space where people can feel safe, supported, and truly seen. Helping others has always been a big part of who I am.
When I’m not working, I’m at home with my partner Mike and our three pets—our dog Smitty and our two cats, Miles and BB. I’m a homebody at heart and love quiet days, warm blankets, and spending time with the people (and animals) I love most.
Now, I’m ready for the next chapter—growing our family through adoption. Becoming a parent is something I’ve dreamed about for a long time, and I’m so grateful you’re here learning more about me.
If you’re considering adoption and looking for someone who will love and support your child with patience, joy, and so much heart, I’d be honored to connect with you and share more about our life and home.
Let’s play 2 truths and a lie!
I have a podcast.
I was once deployed to Iraq.
I have pet snails.
Which one did you guess was the lie?
The truth is:
I do have a podcast where I interview other therapists and clients in the mental health space to spread awareness for the therapy curious.
I have 1 dog, 2 cats, and an aquarium with 4 snails! It’s really meditative taking care of them, and I love watching them glide around their tank while I have my morning coffee.
But the lie is:
I was never deployed to Iraq, but my mom was. She was in the National Guard and was deployed during my sophomore year in college, and I spent that year caring for my younger brother, who was 16 at the time. It was my first foray into parenthood.
The Siblings
-
Smitty Jerome the Dog
Our little old man. He’s been with us for the majority of our relationship. He made the trip from South Carolina, across multiple apartments, and finally to our house where he loves to keep watch out the window and snuggle at night.
-
Miles Morales the Cat
Miles is the middle child. Independent, sweet, and loves being outside. He loves to sleep on our porch and play in any box we get. Our orange boy is all about eating cheese and getting pets.
-
BB Black Berry Baby Bird Turkey Pirates of the Caribbean 4: Dead Men Tell No Tales Wakanda Forever the Cat
Yes, that is her real name. Our youngest cat. Raised from 3 days old. She’s sweet, playful, and adventurous. She loves to play with paper balls and to watch her mom work in her garden.
-
The Snails
Our wet ones who live in an aquarium in the kitchen. A nice, peaceful group we enjoy watching boot and scoot around.
